Attention: it is forbidden to embark non-resident vehicles to the island of Procida from March 1st to October 31st
Procida was chosen from among 9 other competitors, and for the first time since this title was established, the winner was an island.
The jury was conquered by the dossier presented on the day of the hearing, entitled "Procida, La Cultura non Isola", which underlines how "this land is a place of exploration, experimentation and knowledge, a model of cultures and a metaphor of a modern man.
The power of imagination and the concreteness of a vision show us that Procida is an exemplary capital of relational dynamics, of practices of inclusion as well as of care of cultural and natural heritage ". The mayor of Procida, Raimondo Ambrosino, named this victory as a great opportunity for redemption:
"Procida can be considered like a metaphor for many other places, administrations, communities that have rediscovered the enthusiasm and pride for their territory and with this title want to build paths of redemption for their lands".
La città è stata scelta tra altre 9 concorrenti, e per la prima volta da quando il titolo è stato istituito, a spuntarla è stata un’isola.
A conquistare la giuria è stato il dossier presentato il giorno dell’audizione, intitolato “Procida, La cultura non Isola”, che sottolinea come “la terra isolana è luogo di esplorazione, sperimentazione e conoscenza, è modello delle culture e metafora dell’uomo contemporaneo.
Il 9 Aprile 2022 Procida ha inaugurato il suo anno da Capitale italiana della Cultura: 150 eventi in 330 giorni, 350 artisti provenienti da 45 paesi. Legami, collaborazione inclusiva ed eco-sostenibilità, questi i principi cardine del programma.
Questi gli eventi di cartello della manifestazione, ma c’è molto altro: progetti artistici come SprigionARTI, Artecinema, Watersurface e IsLand. Progetti di valorizzazione e restituzione di spazi pubblici alla comunità come il Giardino sul mare dell’incanto, workshop formativi su temi come lo sviluppo eco sostenibile, il futuro delle giovani generazioni e della conservazione e lo sviluppo dell’identità culturale dell’isola. Non mancheranno i concerti lirici, le performance di danza, fotografia e arte.
The main motivation for choosing Procida by the jury lead by Stefano Baia Curioni was read by Minister Dario Franceschini: “The cultural project presents elements of attractiveness and quality on an excellent level. The context of local and regional public and private support is well structured, the patrimonial and landscape dimension of the place is truly extraordinary. The creative dimension, which includes certain social aspects and technological diffusion, is dedicated to the Tyrrhenian islands, but is actually relevant for all the realities of the small Mediterranean islands. Thanks to the combination of these factors, this project could determine the authentic discontinuity in the territory and represent a model for sustainable development processes based on the culture of the island and coastal realities of the country. Moreover, the project is capable of transmitting a poetic message as well, a vision of culture, which extends from the reality of a small island to the wish for all of us, the whole country, in the months that await us".
